Grobert Cripple One of my favorite flies to tie. Caribou hair is light and
buoyant.

HOOK: Curved Caddis size according to type mayfly choice
THREAD: 3/0 monocord; 6/0 for thorax
TAIL: Dark Amber Z-Ion
RIB: Brown 3/0 monocord touch-dubbed with brown dubbing.
ABDOMEN: 3/0 monocord
THORAX: Dubbing color of choice
WING: Caribou hair
1 Tie 3/0 monocord to hook, tie in Z-lon for tail and 3/0 brown monocord (about 6 inches long) for the ribbing. Wrap monocord to midway point on hook shank.
2 Touch dub brown ribbing monocord; wrap it over the abdomen as a ribbing and tie off.
3 Dub sparce amount of dubbing to match fly on thread and wrap two turns in front of abdomen.
4 Tie in wing of medium dun caribou hair. Do not clip long butt ends.
5 Dub thread with matching color and wrap in front of caribou butts to form the rest of the thorax. Whip finish. Clip butt ends of caribou at an angle.
